Inspiration for your road to the altar

Damask Birthday Party

July 1, 2008

I received an email last week from a reader, Marie-Eve, who used a damask motif to throw a 50th birthday party for her mother. And what a lucky mother she is! Marie-Eve used the image above as inspiration for the whole theme, starting with these beautiful invitations:
She decided to use black, white and yellow as her color palette and incorporated some yellow lanterns into the decor. She even made damask drink umbrellas! How great are these? I would say that they are my favorite part, if it weren’t for the favors…
Enclosed in this adorable package were individual tubes of chap stick! Who doesn’t love that, I ask you? I would be (maybe a little overly) excited to get that as a favor at any party.
Both cute and useful, so well done. You can see all of the pictures of people enjoying the party here. Thanks for sharing, Marie-Eve!

Yum!

Sometimes…very rarely…I feel the urge to bake something. On the occasion that I do feel the need I like to make things that are both pretty and taste good. I mean, if I am putting forth the effort I need to take a picture as proof, so it has to look good before I eat it. When I saw these pink and chocolate meringue drops my interest was peaked, but immediately deflated when I read the recipe. So I thought I would share the cute picture anyway and also extend the invitation for any of you more skilled bakers to make some and send ‘em my way. They would make adorable wedding favors! Give it a whirl, I hereby volunteer to be your taste tester.

Magnets

May 16, 2008

I am not really a practical gift giver. I think its much more enjoyable to buy people fun, frivolous things that they wouldn’t normally buy themselves. That being said, I love these magnets that I came across yesterday from iPop (via Parkside Papers).
Its $11.50 for four magnets, which will probably take them out of the running for favors but they would make great hostess and/or bridal party gifts. They even offer Chicago magnets! Ahh, to have the money to include these in all the OOT bags…
