DIY-Glitter-Cake-Topper

How cute is this DIY glitter heart cake topper?  So simple and cheery, you could use them for your rehearsal dinner or wedding cake and then save them to reuse at a birthday party!  Minimal supplies and a few easy steps, you could make your own for just a few dollars.  Love!

Labor day is past us but it still feels like summer in North Carolina, so it felt appropriate to share this adorable DIY wedding today!  Robin and Lee were married last summer on a sheep farm in California and they truly took DIY to a new level.  The bride handmade just about everything you see here, with the exception of the adorable pinwheels which were purchased from BHLDN.  Robin made the table numbers using a Cricut machine and different patterns of blue and red paper, that were then clipped to clothespins and inserted into the covers of old books found at garage sales, thrift stores, and antique fairs. The fabric boutonnieres were all hand crafted by the bride and her maid of honor, who also made the gorgeous cupcakes!  And the wedding cake itself? Handmade by the bride’s sister-in-law.

The door with the seating arrangements was found at an antique store, and the bouquets were made by a family friend after she and the bride visited the Sacramento flower market together and chose the flowers. Another family friends built the dance floor from scratch and spray-painted the heart in the middle (love that). Truly a labor of love from all their family and friends!  Thanks to Deborah Huber for sending along these great images.

Wedding Shoes

September 9, 2013

I went the traditional route with my own wedding shoes, thinking that I would dye them after the wedding so I could wear them again (which never happened).  So while I still love a white wedding shoe I sometimes wonder if it wouldn’t have been more fun to go with something colorful, that I would have been more likely to wear for years to come.  I need a lower heel, so the green Nina Culver shoes would have worked out perfectly!  But if you can rock a higher heel, those Badgley Mishka’s are amazing…and they would be your something blue!  All the shoes pictured here are under $150 with the exception of the Badgleys, which are just a smidge over at $159 on sale.

And if you’re searching for wedding shoes at a great price, you can find every style and color imaginable at bridalshoes.com!  *This post is partially sponsored by BridalShoes.com but all opinions and copy are my own*
